Main Grounds, Uno Hill Barn, Sugar Hill Barn and Piney Grove Church...

Events on the Main Grounds are held outdoors, and there are several beautiful locations to choose from for your event. Locations around the Main House are popular for wedding ceremonies and our Kitchen Garden offers a spectacular view. Receptions and other social gatherings on the Main Grounds can be held in the Stable Courtyard, on the lawn overlooking the Courtyard, in the Tennis Court, or on the Carriage Circle. The lawn overlooking the Courtyard, the Tennis Court and the Carriage Circle can all be tented if desired or needed due to inclement weather.

Uno Hill Barn is an indoor facility located a block off of our main drive. This air conditioned and heated venue can accommodate 150-175 guests comfortably. There is additional outdoor space on the attached patios. Uno Hill has an oversized fireplace that can add ambience in the cooler months. This facility has its own catering kitchen, restrooms, and parking. There are lawns adjacent to the building where ceremonies can be held and there are also white “twinkle style” lights wrapped around all the columns in the barn adding great sparkle!

Sugar Hill Barn sits about 2 miles south of the main PHP entrance, the barn is large and enclosed with tall ceilings, perfect for your event! The building is not centrally heated & cooled but has big barn doors that open on either end of the barn and large barn windows that can be opened to allow for nice breezes in the spring & fall months. The barn has ceiling fans to help cool in the summer months and heaters can be placed inside in the winter months. Sugar Hill Barn has its own catering kitchen and ample restrooms. It also features a covered concrete patio that can be used for additional event space and another concrete patio that can be used for dancing if you want to create an indoor/outdoor event. There are white rope lights wrapped around all the beams in the barn adding a festive sparkle to the space.

The original Piney Grove Church was organized as Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1885 as a “Bush Arbor” by black families who lived and worked on the plantation. The first wooden church structure was built by Mrs. Kate Hanna Ireland Harvey for the plantation’s staff and their families. Every year, the staff, their families, and the plantation owners joined together for a Christmas service inside the church. After two fires, Pebble Hill’s last owner, Elisabeth Ireland Poe, paid for the design, by architect Hugh Seaver, and for the construction of the church building that stands today. Construction ws completed in the summer of 1936. At the time, it was the only church in the area with the innovation of electric lights. There is still an active congregation at Piney Grove that meets for services twice a month. Piney Grove Church is a wedding ceremony location only, receptions cannot be held at the church, in the sanctuary, in the back building of the church or on the church grounds.
