Additional Information

Meet at the Pebble Hill Visitors’ Center.

Each February, the world comes together for the love of birds. Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) was the first online citizen science project, also referred to as community science, to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real time.

Join us at Pebble Hill Plantation (PHP) on Saturday, February 13 to watch and count as many birds as you can for at least 15 minutes, then submit your findings. These observations help scientists better understand global bird populations before one of their annual migrations.

From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., PHP staff will be available to loan binoculars, birding field guides, and to show participants how to enter their scientific data. Grounds admission fee is required to participate: Adults - $5.50; Children (2-12 years) - $2.00; Children under 2 years - FREE
